실험 동물 의학의 소개

Rabbit은 생의학 연구 분야에서 광범위하게 사용되어져 왔다. 본 레포트에서는 rabbit의 관리, 경영, 질병에 대해 서술하였다.

 

1. Taxonomy(분류학)

Rabbit과 hare(산토끼)라고 자주 오용된다.

genus Lepus만이 hare라고 할 수 있고 Oryctolagus cuniculus(American Rabit Breeders Association에서 42가지로 분류한다.)는 집토끼라고 분류된 유일한종이다.

2. Use in Reaserch

1973년부터 US Department of Agriculture 는 research 시설에서 사용된 동물의 숫자를 기록해왔다.

1973-1997년 동안 USSA가 기록한 리서치에서 사용한 래빗의 총양을 기록한 것이다. reacher에서 사용한 마리수의 감소에도 불구하고 rabbit은 연구의매우 좋은 실험동물이다.

1) 상대적으로 large body size와 많은Blood 양

2) Vescular system에 접근하기 쉬움

3) an existent large of information on the purification of rabbit immunoglobulins

위와 같은 이유 때문에 polyclonal antibody를 만드는데 가장 많이 사용된다.
